We quickly move on to keep fresh the time of year when manufacturers try to extend the life of existing products by trying to make things a little more interesting.
Titleist release of the higher loft version (14.5 steps). TSR2+ fairway wood doesn’t quite stick to the typical Paint it black guide, but should give golfers a new reason to consider TSR.
As you probably know, TSR2+ was already a bit of an expansion Fairway wood composition by Titleist. The TSR2+ was conceived as a bomber with a lower loft and more surface area – and it works more or less as advertised.
While the lower loft is no small reason to increase the distance, it’s also a healthy reason why some people weren’t interested in TSR2+.
A small sample size to be sure, but I’ve recommended the TSR2+ to two golfers in the last month only to have both of them tell me they want something with more loft.
Well, here you go.
14.5 Steps TSR2+ Title Champion – Tour Only (So Far)
Previously a tour-only option, Titleist decided the time was right to make timber available to the masses on the 14.5 degree TSR2+ fairway. The only weird thing is that it wasn’t available from day one.
Folks, this is not a complicated story.
Other than the extra loft, the 14.5 step wood on TSR2+ is almost the same as the 13 step wood on TSR2+. High start, maximum forgiveness and long distance – the details remain unchanged.
