If you want the ball to move, you have to have your body moving and this very simple exercise is a little gem we should all be practitioner regularly. I think it is a perfect reminder of the so-called it tilts, turns and stretches we need to incorporate into the golf swing. To watch…
A few checkpoints to keep in mind when doing the exercise:
-
Hold the stick on your shoulders, crossing your arms over your chest
-
Position the handle of the stick on the leading/target side of your body
-
In the backswing, position the handle so that it points to the ball or where it should be
-
Allow the trail side to extend and the trail knee to straighten
-
The leading side should appear low and the trail side high as it stretches and stretches
-
Repeat these sensations as the swing progresses to decrease and do
-
In the post-crash part of the swing, the trail side goes down/shortened while the leading side does lift and extend
This exercise reminds us very well of what a real swing should be like FEEL as. While the drill positions are a bit extreme, they transfer nicely to the actual shot. I know this simple exercise to take home with me will help a large percentage of golfers who appear on my school shirt. try it!
