George Russell has been penalized by the stewards after colliding with Sergio Perez at the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.
Mercedes driver was left “digging himself” after this incident, while on track for a podium finish, he made a mistake at the Mirabeau corner shortly after pitting for an intermediate tire change in wet conditions.
Back on track, Russell made contact with Perez’s Red Bull. The Briton received a five-second penalty and eventually finished the race on P5.
In addition to the on-track penalty, the document detailing the stewards’ verdict shows that Russell also received two penalty points for returning to the track in an unsafe manner, bringing his points total from the last 12 months to six.
