Ousmane Dembele will consider a contract extension offer from Barcelona in the coming weeks.
Dembele made just 15 league appearances in the 2022/23 season as Xavi’s team won their first La Liga title since 2019 due to recurring injury problems.
The Frenchman has been plagued by injuries since arriving in Catalonia from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.
Despite concerns about his stamina to play consistently at the highest level, Xavi has remained a staunch supporter of the winger due to his brilliance.
Xavi persuaded the club to re-sign the 26-year-old last summer after a brief departure after his previous contract at the Camp Nou expired.
His current contract runs until 2024 and Xavi and Barcelona are open to extending it for an additional 12 months if certain conditions are met, according to Catalan journalist Gabriel Sans.
