Academy Head Nick Cox said: “Winning this prestigious award at the age of 18 shows how well Dan has performed and applied throughout the season.
“Dan is a worthy winner, but by no means was it an easy decision for us given how great our U21s have done throughout the season. We deliberately gathered a young group that rose to the challenge of taking on older players throughout the season of their gaming program, just as we expected.
“Myself and all the coaches are delighted with the individual development of this group and are really proud of our collective achievements this season. Dan himself has grown a lot this year, playing a key role for various Academy teams in the Premier League 2 as well as captaining the EFL Trophy and FA Youth Cup teams.
“He is a leader who has come through our system from an early age, always displaying desirable qualities and qualities that we try to instill in each of our young players. He truly deserves this award for his determination to succeed, support for his fellow teammates and his strong individual performances. “
