The Prime Video LTA Youth Girls program will begin on Totally Tennis on Thursday, April 20 for girls aged 5 to 11. These new girls-only beginner courses are designed to make tennis fun, social and engaging, and sessions will be filled with games and activities to teach essential skills as well as build confidence and make new friendships.
The courses at Totally Tennis will be led by coach Isla Hignett, who started playing herself at just four years old. Isla passionately shares her love of tennis and helps other girls learn and enjoy the sport. She was selected by the LTA along with over 250 other trainers to run courses throughout the country.
Iza said:I’m really grateful for the opportunity to get more girls into the sport which is something that motivates me because I want girls to find a passion like I did in tennis when I was 4“. she added, “My experience of playing tennis growing up has shown me that many girls have left the sport and I want that to change so that tennis continues to grow. Any girl can pick up a racket, but few will stick to it for the long haul. I am willing to put all my effort into helping you make that change“.
The course costs £35 for 6 weeks and there will be 3 sessions for players aged 5-6, 7-8 and 9-11. Sessions will be held at Totally Tennis every Thursday between 4.30pm and 7.30pm (see session times and booking below), starting on Easter. Everyone who registers will receive a free tennis racket, t-shirt and tennis balls. The 6-week continuation course will start in June.
