May25 – Red Bull may not be hot favorites this weekend in Monaco, according to Dr Helmut Marko.
Or Max Verstappen Or Sergio Perez they have won every Grand Prix so far in 2023 with dominance Red Bull.
But the team’s Marko warned: “We won’t be able to use our strengths in Monaco.
“Tyre wear will not be the deciding factor,” he told motorsport-magazin.com, “and there are virtually no straights where we can show our speed advantage.”
Marko, 80, thinks Ferrari could be the favorite due to the team’s qualifying pace and speed through the slower corners.
The highly respected Spanish broadcaster Antonio Lobato agrees.
“Monaco is the only place where things can happen because the man is more important than the machine,” he told Radio Marca.
“This is a unique breed that can defy logic. Aston Martin can win or Ferrari or Mercedes could win – or at least have a better chance than elsewhere.
“Qualifying will be very important,” added Lobato.
Ferrari Charles Leclerc he has been on pole position in his native Monaco for the past two years.
“If there is even a glimmer of hope, Leclerc can beat everyone in qualifying,” F1 legend Riccardo Patrese told Quoditiano Sportiva.
“He is a flying lap phenomenon and comes from Monte Carlo – he knows every inch of asphalt. If he starts in front, he can keep them all behind him on Sunday.”
