Amid rumors of Jules Kounde’s departure, the footballer himself has made his intentions clear on social media.
Xavi Hernandez has entered talks with Barcelona’s first team for next season. The coach met with the players who failed to be promoted and made clear his intentions for the next season.
One player who spoke up was Jules Kounde, who expressed his dissatisfaction with playing as a right-back to his coach. The press reported on a possible departure for the Frenchman in the summer, for a fee of 80 or 90 million euros.
There were also rumors that the former Sevilla player was in talks with the club, clearly asking to leave as Christenson and Aruajo are positioned as central defenders in the squad. This must have raised alarm bells, but the Frenchman quickly put the matter to his social media accounts.
He was linked with Man Utd and later Chelsea, but nothing turned out to be further from the truth. “Just to clarify: I never asked to leave the club so I’m not going anywhere,” he wrote on his official Twitter account.
Last summer Stamford Bridge came close to bringing the Frenchman onto the pitch, but Barcelona upped the ante and the French international chose to stay in Spain to play for Barca, where he has won the Spanish Super Cup and La Liga so far.
Just to be clear: I’ve never asked to leave, so I’m not going anywhere.
