The Golden State Warriors caused shockwaves in the NBA a few weeks ago when they made a trade Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards. In return, they received Chris Paul, which may strengthen the team in the short term. But they bet on what they envisioned for the future by trading Poole, but it was a move that clearly had to be made.
Jordan Poole will remain friends with Curry Thompson
“I can write to Steph. I can text Klay. I can call them and just talk. This doesn’t lead anywhere. If anything, I just know the plays they put on.

We all already know this story. Poole signed a substantial contract extension in the off-season, tying him to Golden State for another four years and solidifying himself as one of the future elements of the franchise. But things turned even before the season started when there was a training incident between him and Draymond Green.
The now infamous sucker punch has been cited as one of the reasons for the Warriors’ failure to repeat in 2023 and even in the second round. The team’s chemistry suffered throughout the season as there were reports of rifts between the veteran teammates and the youngsters at the end of the rotation.
Poole also struggled in the playoffs. Other than a solid game or two, he shot horribly from the field in the post-season and was ultimately a disappointment on the biggest stage. Golden State was forced to make the decision, given that Green was hitting free agency and Poole was on a long-term contract.

So the deal was done, Green was re-signed, and the Warriors pledged part of their future to the now winning player in Chris Paul.
Although there will probably forever be a rift between Jordan Poole and Draymond Greenhe will not be with his other teammates:
“In my opinion, they’re the two greatest scorers of all time… I’ve also built a relationship where I can ask them, I can text Steph, I can text Klay. I can call them and just talk. So that doesn’t leave anything going anywhere.
Curry had similar feelings regarding the situation. He posted a short video last week publicly thanking Poole for his contributions to the Warriors, and it looked like the two were poised to remain close friends. And the same apparently applies to Klay Thompson as well.
Poole didn’t mention Green at all. However, he ended the quote by saying that he knew plays that Golden State liked to put on, which would give him a competitive advantage.
