Paris, France, May 26, 2023 | Leigh Rogers
Storm Hunter and Jaimee Fourlis have a chance to reach the top spot in Australian tennis in 33 years.
The fit Australians will play the final matches of the qualifying round in Paris today. Had both qualified, it would have been the first time since 1990 that multiple Australian women had qualified for a clay court Grand Slam tournament.
This would be an extraordinary effort considering only three Australians have completed successful qualifiers in Paris in the last 25 years – Sophie Ferguson in 2010, Olivia Rogowska in 2015 and Hunter in 2021.
