The 2023 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship kicks off with the first race weekend of the year taking place at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on May 20-21
Reigning champion Norbert Kiss kicked off last year’s title campaign by taking pole position and his first win on each of the two race days. The Hungarian ace will look to start his title defense in 2023 in much the same way.
After winning league titles for two consecutive years, rivals Kiss are looking to turn the tables and challenge Hungary for the crown this season.
Jochen Hahn and Sascha Lenz, who have been Kiss’s closest competitors over the last few years, along with Spain’s three-time series winner Antonio Albacete, as well as always formidable rivals Steffi Halm and André Kursi, will all be looking to dethrone Kiss in 2023.
The new season is also the introduction of the Goodyear FIA European Young Drivers’ Champion category, open to any driver under 30 years of age. The aim of the new category is to increase the prospects of young truck racing drivers and find the FIA ETRC the star of tomorrow.
The highly successful Innovation Camp returns to the paddock this season, showcasing the latest sustainable solutions and alternative vehicles in the industry.
Goodyear FIA ETRC’s efforts to make truck racing more sustainable and to use its platform to accelerate the transition and acceptance of alternative fuel trucks have been recognized by the independent Motorsport Sustainability Ranking. Goodyear FIA ETRC placed 16thp including 105 internationally recognized two- and four-wheel motorsport championships, recognizing the series’ efforts to reach net-zero by 2038 and using its platform to drive change in the transportation industry.
The 2023 season promises to be as competitive and exciting as 2022. Watch the action from Misano live on the Goodyear FIA ETRC channels from Saturday.
