“It’s in the past, a long time ago. We know they have great players, so it’s a tough job and we have to do a tough job. But we have faith. We are convinced that we can do it if we have the right plan, the right attitude of the players and the right team spirit. (If we have them), we’ll do it. “
Frank Lampard will be in the opposing team, someone you faced twice this season against Everton. Is there anything you can take from your matches against his teams that will help you prepare for this?
“We know Frank Lampard always prepares his teams very well and we saw that when we faced Everton twice. Also last weekend against Man City he did a great job. I think when you watched the game, the draw was justified. I don’t understand it but they played very well and we know we have to play at our highest level if we want to get the result.
Finally, we asked you earlier about potential players for the Player of the Season award. IN Debate show this week, Ben Thornley picked Aaron Wan-Bissaka as an alternative. How impressed have you been with his performances since the World Cup, both in defense and attack?
He has improved a lot, as have many players over the course of the season. That’s one of the jobs for the manager and the coaching staff to do that (improve the players) and we’re very happy to see the players developing. Always team spirit is the foundation and if the players understand that, if they put their egos aside, you will see the team grow and progress. And then as the team progresses, the individuals make big strides and Aaron is definitely one of them.”
