Keeping a close eye on a tennis ball can be difficult, especially when the crowd is cheering or when the opponent is unpredictable and uses many advanced techniques on each return. Designed to improve concentration, tennis training equipment can help you block out distractions and be prepared for different ball moves.
Spinshot machine
The spinshot machine is more advanced than the standard ball dispenser. Many tennis players spin the ball, which causes the ball to travel at an elevated height. The spinshot machine will independently control the spin and speed of the ball and the angle at which the ball is delivered.
Since you may have become accustomed to hitting the ball against the wall and using the same exact rhythm every training session, using a spinshot machine is a challenging alternative that will keep you moving every training round.
Adjust the dispenser speed to accommodate the number of balls you want to dispense within a certain time period. Position the machine with the dispenser facing your side of the court. Once the gear is up and running, go to your side of the court and wait for each ball to be released. Track how many turns you’re able to make and adjust machine settings if you want to make each training round harder or easier.
Cones And Rings
A numbered set of cones and rings will help you make targeted turns and maintain proper posture. Some coaches use hoops to help their players know where their feet should be during a match. By adding numbered cones, you can keep your feet in the correct position and try to hit the ball at a specific angle so that it lands near the desired cone.
For this exercise, it is best to work with an instructor or another tennis player who has a lot of experience. Get help in positioning the rings along the surface of the court. Place one foot in each ring that forms a pair of supports. Pay attention to your opponent and listen to his instructions. The other player will announce the numbered cone to aim at.
Follow the instructions to successfully land the ball next to the identified cone. If the other player tells you to move your feet to a different set of rings, do so without distracting your opponent. Continue to target each identified cone and move your feet to a different set of rings when prompted.
