After beating Coventry Luton Town has made history becoming the first team to be promoted from a non-league to the Premier League. Their story is very similar to that of German side of Heidenheim, who were also promoted from the German fifth tier to promotion to the Bundesliga. Luton will now play in arguably the toughest league in the world. And one player who made his mark in Luton Town’s impressive campaign was young defender Cody Drameh.
On loan from Leeds United, Drameh was not the starting full-back but featured whenever he was called up by manager Rob Edwards. In fact, Drameh really recovered towards the end of the season, having played in all of the team’s last 14 matches, of which he played all 11 matches.
And with Leeds United now relegated to the Championship, Luton Town now look like a more attractive club to convince Drameh to sign a permanent contract. Who is Cody Drameh and how good is he?
Cody Drameh analysis
Born on 8 December 2001 in Dulwich, South London, Cody Dramhe is a product of the Fulham youth system. He first came to light when he made three appearances for Fulham in the Premier League U18 in the 2017–18 season. The following season he was promoted to U23, making 17 Premier League 2 appearances, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
The following season, he again made 17 Premier League 2 appearances, recording seven assists to his name. However, towards the end of the season, Drameh was becoming restless and wanted to try his hand at the senior team.
Therefore, he joined Leed United in 2021 and after his performances for the under-23 team, he made his senior debut in the EFL Cup against Arsenal. His Premier League debut was due to come on 31 December 2021 against Norwich City. He will play two more shows in the new year, but it was clear that he was still far from being an integral part of the team.
So for the rest of the season, Drameh was loaned to Championship side Cardiff City. He has played in each of the last 20 matches. He spent the first half of the season at Leeds the following season before being sent on loan to Luton Town.

Cody Drameh stats
In the 2022–23 season, Drameh made ten appearances for the under-23 team. He also made six appearances for the senior sides, making one appearance each in the Premier League, the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. However, as Leeds still considered him above requirements, Drameh found himself on another loan, this time to Luton Town. However, over the next six months, Drameh made a huge improvement, showing for the first time that he might be able to fulfill his huge potential.
Despite playing just over a third of the season, Drameh performed admirably, notching up two assists. He ranks fourth in crossings and successful tackles in the Luton Town squad, according to football
While his passing accuracy averages 72.1 percent, he fares much better in duels, winning 91 of the 165 he has tackled. He also completed 18 dribbles out of the 35 he attempted, which is a good stat for a player of his age and experience.
During his time at Luton Town, he averaged more than one interception per game. Dramehn is also a player who needs to play regularly to get the rhythm that brings out the best in him, so we could see an even better version next season, whether he’s playing in the Premier League or the Championship.
Cody Drameh Scout Report
A first look at Drameh’s popularity map this season would make anyone think he’s either a winger who loves to follow back or a full-back who loves to venture forward. However, this is not the case in any case as he alternated between playing right midfield and right back.
This shows his versatility in being adept at fulfilling both roles with ease and without compromising performance quality. In fact, it’s the perfect balance between offensive and defensive instincts that makes him the perfect candidate to be the next star to fly at full-back.
Drameh’s strengths are his vision, brilliant runs and impressive ball recovery. However, he needs to work on his shooting and passing which would make him a more versatile player who could survive and thrive in the top leagues.

Now full of Premier League cash and charm, Luton have a real chance of signing Drameh. Furthermore, he will only have less than a year left on his contract in the summer, which will put pressure on Leeds to sell the player and do so at a much lower price, which will be music to Luton Town’s ears.
For now, however, he can be happy that he is an integral part of one of the best football fairy tales.
