We all know we’re in a terrible place right now, and once again, we’ve all debated why that is – for a myriad of reasons.
But what the club needs to do now is concentrate on taking us forward and to do that we need a big squad first of all but we also need to add a new backbone to this team and it’s VERY important that they get it now .
I love seeing the best young players come to the future and apparently another one joined yesterday in the form of Alex Matos from Norwich City. It’s all well and good, although I’m also worried about our own academy, but we also have to sign here and now.
Understand that Chelsea have finalized the signing of Alex Matos – documents and contracts signed in the last 24 hours. 🚨🔵 #CFCs

For me, when profiling players and potential targets for our squad’s new backbone, as well as analyzing the data, we also need to look at player mentality, leadership skills and experience, and most importantly, Premier League experience. I think this will be very important when choosing our new spine.
We need to target players who are not old but already have a lot of experience in the Premier League and European football. This is the player profile I think we really need.
I’m not saying not to buy another non-Premier League player, but we can’t afford to wait for players to adapt when they sign our backbone. We need ready-made players in these positions who are used to the physicality and speed of the Premier League because it is a league like no other.
These players need to be ready now, full of confidence and self-confidence, and they need to go in knowing everything about this league and the opponents they will face. I think that’s the most important quality to look for this summer. We cannot take risks with the next defensive midfielder and striker.
The absolute dream for me would be Declan Rice and Harry Kane (big pipe dream) and I would even be looking at James Maddison if Leicester fell and there was a deal opportunity.
I would even watch him whether Mason Mount and Joao Felix leave, and maybe still if only one leaves. I think we need a player like Maddison who can do everything in attack.
I don’t think it’s that important for a goalkeeper to have Premier League experience, but I really think we need someone with a strong mentality and leadership – Mike Maignan would be my dream choice.
Mike Maignan
These are not necessarily realistic choices for me and Ivan Toney would be more realistic as a striker but dependent on his ban. However, rice is certainly obtainable.
People may complain that I only choose English players to a large extent, but I don’t even look at nationality when I look at the players I want, I look at quality, personality and whether they are experienced in the Premier League or not. That’s at least the criteria I’m looking at for our new spine. I don’t care if said player from these criteria is from England, Ukraine or anywhere else, that is the criterion I want us to target only our backbone. Not all over the pitch, but for our backbone.
I just think that’s what we need where we are now – ready-made players. If we want to fight for trophies again next season, in my humble opinion, we need such profiles for our spine.
