The Philadelphia 76ers are off to a hot start this season, with the team having proven so far that it can still dominate in the East despite stronger competition. Joel Embiid continues to play at an MVP level, while Tyrese Maxey has quickly ascended into stardom. Put simply, the franchise is in a great shape in its title hunt.
However, given the front office’s posturing, it appears likely that they will continue to be on the hunt for the next big name available, especially after they somehow managed to replenish their crest of assets in the James Harden trade. Fortunately for them, two-time All-Star Zach LaVine has named the 76ers as one of his preferred destinations as he seeks to find a way out of Chicago.

The Bulls are once again on a middling position and a fire sale could very well be underway in the following months. And while LaVine is still signed through 2027 (with a player option on the final year), trading him would net them the most assets to kickstart a much-needed rebuild after Chicago’s brass accelerated theirs by trading for Nikola Vucevic and signing DeMar DeRozan.
Admittedly, Philadelphia will fare just fine by standing idly and dealing with what they have on the roster, but as we all know, anything can happen over the course of a season. But of course, Daryl Morey will be hard-pressed to do that given his proclivity for plucking the big names.
